How It’s Made
1. Preparing the White Canvas Bag
Each piece begins with a clean white canvas tote bag, prepared specifically for the dyeing process.
2. Preparing the Natural Lacquer
Natural lacquer is carefully dropped onto the surface of the water in a dyeing vat. Different colors are layered and arranged to create a rich foundation for the design.
3. Creating the Pattern
Before the bag is dyed, the artisan gently moves and guides the lacquer across the water by hand. The colors spread, blend, overlap, and flow into unique lines, shapes, and patterns.
4. Dyeing the Bag
Once the water pattern is ready, the white canvas bag is carefully placed into the vat. The natural lacquer floating on the water transfers onto the surface of the bag, transforming the plain white canvas into a colorful work of art.
5. Drying and Finishing
After dyeing, the bag is carefully lifted from the water and left to dry. As it dries, the colors settle into the fabric and reveal the final pattern.
6. One of a Kind
Every pattern is created by hand for one dyeing process only. Because the lacquer, water, and hand movements are never exactly the same, no two patterns can be identical.
Each bag is individually created through natural lacquer, flowing water, and traditional hand-dyeing craftsmanship.

Colors Harvested from Nature
Natural lacquer is hand-collected from lacquer trees deep in the mountains. This natural, plant-derived color brings rich, organic tones to the canvas, helping create the one-of-a-kind patterns shaped by water.
Art, Shaped by Water
Natural lacquer is carefully dropped onto the surface of the water and guided by hand to create a unique flowing pattern. Once the design is ready, a clean white canvas tote bag is gently placed into the water to receive the color. Because each pattern is created fresh for a single dyeing process, no two bags are exactly alike.
Watch the Color Come to Life
As natural lacquer develops, its hidden tones slowly emerge, becoming warmer, richer, and more luminous over time.
